International Award for Kılıç Seafood

Kılıç Seafood, the leader of our aquaculture sector, was deemed worthy of the Taste and Quality Award, a highly prestigious award presented by the International Taste & Quality Institute (ITQI). The award, granted as a result of a special partnership established with prestigious culinary associations such as The Association de la Sommellerie Internationale (ASI) and other respected food and beverage associations, was received in Brussels by Kılıç Holding Vice Chairman of the Executive Board Sinan Kızıltan.

The award is granted following tastings conducted by a prestigious jury consisting of world-renowned chefs and sommeliers, with company names kept confidential, and is evaluated out of 3 stars. In the Taste and Quality evaluation, Kılıç Seafood was awarded 3 stars for sea bass and 2 stars for gilthead sea bream. While 2 stars fall under the “remarkable” category, the highest score of 3 stars is defined as “exceptional.”

Speaking at the ceremony held in Brussels, Kılıç Holding Vice Chairman of the Executive Board Kızıltan stated that receiving this award was extremely proud for them. Expressing his satisfaction at being deemed worthy of such an important award as a result of tastings conducted by world-renowned chefs, Kızıltan said: “The Taste and Quality Award is an indicator of how right a path we are on. I would like it to be known that I received this award on behalf of the Turkish aquaculture sector. Because such awards raise the bar even higher in quality, health, and taste. This naturally paves the way for us, as the Turkish aquaculture sector, to produce higher-quality products and more delicious fish.”

Stating that thanks to these two awards they hold the “International Taste and Quality” license for three years, Kızıltan continued: “Two stars are evaluated as remarkable and are given to products that receive between 80–90 percent of the total points. Our gilthead sea bream was deemed worthy of this category.

The highest score of 3 stars is defined as exceptional and is awarded to products that receive 90 percent or more of the total points. Our sea bass was evaluated at this level. It is gratifying that both of our products were deemed worthy of such an award and that we are returning to our country with these awards.”
